Welcoming Address

Dear Colleagues, an interdisciplinary consortium on Cancer Immunotherapy was founded three years ago by representatives of the Universities in Berlin, Erlangen, Mainz and Tübingen. They were supported by an interdisciplinary Advisory Board composed of representatives from different scientific societies. The consortium would like to help to broaden and consolidate the scientific and technological basis of antigen-specific tumor immunotherapy and to establish it as an integral constituent of multi-modal cancer therapy. It thereby addresses preclinically and clinically oriented scientists as well as biotech and pharmaceutical companies and encourages network formation. We are happy to welcome you to the third annual meeting of the Association for Immunotherapy of Cancer. It is organized as a joint conference by the Association for Immunotherapy of Cancer and the Combined Research Grant "Mechanisms of Tumor Defense and Therapeutic Intervention" funded by the German Research Council and is held in the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Mainz. The first day of the meeting will focus on therapeutic antibodies. On the second day we will mainly address T-cell-oriented tumor immunology. You will have the opportunity to meet renowned international and national scientists working in the primary fields of antigen-specific immunotherapy. In addition, you might take advantage of making personal contact with leaders of ongoing pre-clinical and clinical projects. Aside from the plenary lectures the consortium offers guided poster sessions during the meeting. We are looking forward to spend two exciting days on cancer immunotherapy with you.
