How to get to the Convention Center at Festung Marienberg
Coming by CAR:
If you use a navigation system you might use „Oberer Burgweg" as direct access route.
(a) From the A81 coming from Stuttgart or Heidelberg take exit Gerchsheim and follow the B27 towards Würzburg. In Höchberg you have to take the left route towards Würzburg Nord. At the signpost FESTUNG turn right into Oberer Burgweg. You have to get a parking ticket at the gate, before you enter the official parking spot.
(b) From the A3 coming from Frankfurt take exit Helmstadt or Kist and follow the B 8 towards Würzburg. In Höchberg you have to take the left route towards Würzburg Nord. At the signpost FESTUNG turn right into Oberer Burgweg. You have to get a parking ticket at the gate, before you enter the official parking spot.
(c) From the A3 coming from Nuremberg take exit Würzburg-Heidingsfeld. Turn left down the hill. Follow the signpost Parkplatz Talavera/CCW via Mergentheimer Straße, Saalgasse and Dreikronenstraße. At the intersection Friedensbrücke turn turn left into Luitpoldstraße and again left into Wörthstraße. Follow the signpost FESTUNG and turn left into Oberer Burgweg. You have to get a parking ticket at the gate, before you enter the official parking spot.
(d) From the A 7 coming from Kassel take the exit Estenfeld and follow the B8 towards Würzburg Stadtmitte. At the Berliner Ring take the exit Hauptbahnhof via Haugerring, Röntgenring, across the Friedensbrücke and turn left into Luitpoldstraße. Again turn left into Wörthstraße. Follow the signpost FESTUNG and turn left into Oberer Burgweg. You have to get a parking ticket at the gate, before you enter the official parking spot.
Coming by TRAIN:
Take a cab if you do not have more than 45 min time to arrive at the Convention Center Marienberg. There are no direct connections between Würzburg Main Station and the Convention Center at the Festung Marienberg.
Tram starts right in front of the Main Station. You have to get a ticket before you enter (called: Kurzstrecke Eins + 4, price 1.10 € or purchase a day ticket „1 Wabe for 4.10 €). You have to stamp it immediately in the tram. Take Line 3 (direction: Heidingsfeld/Heuchelhof) or Line 5 (direction: Heidingsfeld/Heuchelhof/Rottenbauer). Leave tram at Stop Rathaus. Cross the „Alte Mainbrücke". Now you see already the Fortress Marienberg. Cross the street, turn right and follow the Signpost „Fußweg Festung Marienberg" up the hill. It is a app. 15 Min. walk.
Bus Line No 9 operates at larger intervals, there is no stop at the Main Station but from other downtown locations and it starts in the morning after the sessions already have begun.
Coming by PLANE:
There are direct connections to Würzburg every hour starting at 6:36 AM until 8:45 PM, sometimes even every 30 min. The whole trip takes about 90 min. If you arrive earlier or later you might have to change and traveling time is considerably longer. Prices for a single trip range between 27 and 33 €. Remember that you will need to obtain a ticket before boarding the train. Tickets are available at DB Travel Centers "Below the Airport". This is where you can buy long-distance rail tickets. One Travel Center is located at Terminal 1, Level 0, in Hall B, and the other directly at the AIRail Terminal, Level 3.

If you arrive at the Frankfurt Airport go to the long-distance railway station at the AIRail Terminal, right next to Terminal 1. Do not use the local railway station for S-Bahn, regional and local trains! Trains to Würzburg usually depart from platform 4. The railway station is linked to Terminal 2 via buses and the Sky Line (no trolleys allowed).
This is how you get there:
From the platform (Level 0, Area B) go one floor higher up, following signs to Terminal 2. When in Area B or C, get on a free Shuttle Bus to Terminal 2. The service runs between 05:00 and 03:00 hrs (5am to 3am). Alternatively, follow signs to the Sky Line in Hall B. This service to Terminal 2 runs at 2-minute intervals.
